The Congress of the People said it would block the entrance to Eskom’s head office at Mega Watt Park in Johannesburg to prevent Brian Molefe from returning to work.
Cope’s Dennis Bloem said that they plan to “physically stop Brian Molefe from entering the premises in Sunninghill”.
“Our plans are at an advance stage as we have already started discussing the action with other political and civic organisations,” he said.
Bloem said that COPE was “determined to show Jacob Zuma, the Guptas, Brian Molefe and any other Mickey Mouse that we will not allow anybody to turn our country into a Banana Republic”.
He said he wanted to advise Molefe to stay away from Megawatt Park to avoid embarrassment.
News of Molefe’s return to the CEO post at Eskom was met with howls of derision this week from, including the ANC, which described the decision by the Eskom Board as “ridiculous”.
ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, said they would be pushing for a meeting with Public Enterprises Minister, Lynn Browne, after she backed Molefe’s return.
Some opposition parties said they would turn to the courts to get the Board’s decision reversed.
On Saturday the SACP called for judicial commission of inquiry into the State of Capture Report by former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela.
