JOHANNESBURG, June 16 (ANA) – Police have opened an inquest docket after a 40-year-old member of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) opened fire and shot at his wife and mother-in-law, before committing suicide in Ga-Rakgoatha village, Limpopo.
The mother-in-law died instantly, said spokesman, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
“The member resided at Emdo Park, Polokwane. It is alleged he had a domestic dispute with his wife yesterday [Thursday]. The wife then ran away to her parental home in Magatle,” said Ngoepe.
“He later followed her and on arrival started shooting both the wife and his mother-in-law, killing the mother-in-law instantly. The wife survived with serious gunshot wounds and she is recuperating in hospital. The officer was found lying dead in that house with a bullet wound on the head.”
The mother-in-law was in her 60s and the wife in her 30s.
