A young man from the affluent suburb of Constantia in Cape Town is out on bail of R50 000 after a hydroponic cannabis laboratory was discovered at his house.
Twenty-four-year-old Joseph Hughes spend this past weekend behind bars and made his first court appearance on Monday.
Police spokesperson Zinzi Hani says police, the K9 unit and the Narcotics Burea of the Hawks pounced on his property where they found an assortment of cannabis plants spread out in seven rooms on the property.
He says the rooms were used to cultivate different strains of dagga.
Police confiscated six bags of dagga heads, each weighing a kilogram, 754 dagga trees, and 10 kg of dried dagga stems with heads with a combined value of just over a million Rand.
Hani says 315 rounds of ammunition were also confiscated.
Hughes will be back in court on the 24th of February next year.
