Police Minister, Nathi Mthetwa, says reports of collusion between police and criminals in the Western Cape are of serious concern.
His comments comes after the chairperson of the Western Cape community policing forum, Hanif Loonat, said that gangsters are being shielded by an army of foot soldiers as they used their wealth to buy information from authorities.
He claimed that police officers are providing information to gangs claiming further that they also have people at ministerial level.
Minister Mthetwa says if the claims are true it would derail police efforts to address gang violence in the Western Cape.
