Two Chinese Nationals, aged 24 and 27 are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, following their arrest by the Hawks' Organized Crime Endangered Species Unit.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Lloyd Ramova says the pair allegedly inadvertently forgot a backpack containing pieces of processed Rhino horn and Ivory at a restaurant in Houtbay on Sunday evening, only to show-up on Monday afternoon to claim it.
The seemingly oblivious duo, were then directed to the nearby police station where the parcel was said to be handed in for safe keeping.
Ramova says the loot is valued at just over R60 000.
Upon their arrival, members of the Hawks were activated, and they were arrested on the spot.
The two suspects have been charged with unlawful possession of Rhino horn and Ivory.
