An investigation has been launched into the death of an eight-year-old girl who was allegedly kicked and beaten by three
school bullies at a Soweto primary school.
The Gauteng education department says the matter only came to their attention on Monday.
The Daily Sun reports that Lebohang Makala returned home from school on the 14th of February limping and with swollen legs.
She told her mother that three boys had hit her for no reason while she was playing with other girls at the Batsogile
Primary School.
She died on Friday, a week after the attack, apparently from excessive internal bleeding.
Her parents reported the matter to the education department and the local police station on Monday.
Police Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela confirmed that the matter would be investigated.
