Slain farm manager Brendin Horner

Police Minister, Bheki Cele, will be meeting the family of the slain young farm manager, Brandin Horner.

Cele will travel to the Free State on Tuesday for the meeting, which also coincides with the court appearance of a farmer charged with terrorism, among other charges, following the chaos at the Senekal Magistrate's Court last week.

Two suspects arrested in connection with Horner's murder are also due to appear in court later this week, as tensions mount in the Free State town.

Cele says he will also be meeting the leadership of political parties and organisations that have been drawn into the matter, including talks with the EFF and looming meetings with the Freedom Front Plus.

However, the Minister says despite efforts to restore calm and reduce tensions in Senekal, he warned that SAPS will not allow people to take the law into their own hands.

"People can't come there and bully the state and do things they did at Senekal.  This time, we'll be ready," Cele said.

"This time we'll be there to protect the property of the state, to protect the integrity of the state and to protect human life, even when those people are suspects.  They cannot be given to anyone to deal with them."

"I want to make it very clear that our getting into engagements and talking (does not) mean that you can come and do as you wish.  It won't happen.  I'm still calling on the SAPS that those people who caused trouble, they must be arrested.  It doesn't matter who they are, they broke the law, they burned a police van," he said.

Cele said a young man from the Fees Must Fall movement was sentenced to 4 years for torching a police vehicle. "No one else is different."

"So, we are doing both. We'll work to make peace prevail there but whoever crosses the line, the might of the state will prevail," Minister Cele said.
