Carnage continues on Eastern Cape roads

The carnage on Eastern Cape roads continued on Thursday, with a midi-bus crashing down a ravine in the Mount Ayliff area.

Provincial traffic spokesperson, Tsepo Machaea, says at least 3 people were killed and 17 injured in the accident.

Meanwhile, the accident comes as the province prepares for its second memorial service on Friday for the 10 victims who died in a mini-bus taxi accident near Cradock last Saturday.

On Thursday, Transport Minister Dipuo Peters, her provincial counterpart, Weziwe Tikana and Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, attended another memorial service for the 36 people who died when a bus crashed on a gravel road between Willowvale and Butterworth - also last Saturday.

Masualle declared both accidents provincial disasters.
