CAPE TOWN, December 5 (ANA) – A 18-year-old male student sustained serious injuries when he allegedly fell out of a window on the third floor of a student’s residence in Cape Town, Western Cape paramedics said on Saturday.
“The incident occured at around 5am this morning [Saturday] and it is believed that the young man fell two storeys and landed on a balcony on the first floor of the same building,” ER24 spokesman Pieter Rossouw said.
“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found that the young man had sustained serious fractures to the lower part of his body. Access to the patient was first only attainable through a window.”
Cape Town fire and rescue services used a Bronto Skylift to lower the patient down to ground floor so that paramedics could continue treatment. The patient was then transported by ER24 to New Somerset Hospital for further treatment.
The actual cause and circumstances surrounding the incident remained unknown, and local authorities were on the scene for further investigation, he said. – African News Agency (ANA)
