Thirty people were displaced when their homes burnt down, following a petrol bomb attack in Bonteheuwel in Cape Town on Saturday.
Spokesperson for the city's disaster management centre, Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says a petrol bomb was thrown at a house, and the blaze spread to three other dwellings - resulting in severe damage.
He says disaster management teams provided clothing, food parcels and blankets to the residents.
Solomons-Johannes says the city has called on the police to open a case of malicious damage to the properties.
He says police suspect that the attack was a "turf war over drugs".
