The South African Police Service said it had responded to a tip-off and found a cache of firearms,ammunition, military equipment and Nazi flags in Bothasig, Cape Town.
“This morning the Provincial Detective Unit responded to information from the public and proceeded to Bothasig to search a premises in Vryburger Street,” the police said on Friday.
“At approximately 11:40 they entered a flat behind the residence where they recovered two firearms, two silencers, a telescope, numerous magazines and a huge amount of ammunition of various caliber's, including that of R1’s, R5', 9mm and.45’s.”
Police also said they had seized military gear, training equipment, reloading equipment, Nazi flags and memorabilia.
“Although no arrest was made a person of interest has already been identified. The details of all the items seized will be finalized once the detectives have completed the investigation on the scene,” said the police in a statement. – African News Agency (ANA)
