Transport union, Satawu says the strike by bus drivers is far from over.
The strike is now in its third week.
Satawu's Wayne Louw, says the mood among striking drivers is one of fortitude.
"People are struggling but the say it is a struggle that they are prepared to go through in order to achieve what they want which is a double digit. They feel it will be more beneficial for them in the long range to fight now for a living wage" Louw said.
Satawu has indicated it won't settle for less than a double-digit wage offer from employers.
Employers have offered an 8% increase for workers earning less than R23/hour and 7.5% for those earning more.
Cosatu has weighed in on this, and has called on all parties to settle for a 10% increase.
Cosatu's Tony Ehrenreich says company bosses can afford to pay an extra 1 percent.
"We have the best fleet of buses in the world, we have the highest subsidies of people who live in Milnerton, and the bosses are all multi millionairess in this industry, and ultimately this is government money apart from the subsidies. We believe that the funds must also be used to pay workers a decent salary and we believe 10% could be the area of settlement" he said.
