The 32-year-old truck driver who was arrested in connection with the Boksburg explosion has been released on warning pending further investigations.
Eighteen people were killed when a truck with gas got stuck in a low bridge in Boksburg before exploding.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili says as soon as the investigation is concluded, the case docket will be sent to the NPA for a decision to prosecute.
She says the driver was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday but has now been released.
The driver was facing multiple counts of culpable homicide, negligent causing of an explosion resulting in death [Act 26 of 1956, Section 27 (2)] and malicious damage to property.
