The Hawks in Mpumalanga have re-arrested a woman who allegedly duped clients into buying homes from her that were not for sale.

The 46-year-old Annica van Staden registered a business called "Housing First Property" in Mpumalanga where she claimed to sell RDP houses, repossessed homes and even private property in the vicinity of Middelburg, Witbank, Secunda and Kriel.

According to the Hawks, Van Staden duped several clients between October 2014 and July 2015.

Spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi says they Hawks released her photograph and status as a wanted suspect to the media after she skipped her bail.

Van Staden was initially arrested in Soweto in August 2019 and released on bail.

The matter was postponed to 11 November 2020 but when van Staden failed to show up a warrant of arrest was issued.
Captain Sekgotodi says she was arrested at a hiding place in Boksburg on Monday.

She is being charged with fraud worth R184 000.

The Hawks says she had accomplices and more arrests are imminent.
