Body of missing woman found in church pit toilet

Free State Police have arrested four suspects in connection with a missing woman whose body was found dumped inside a pit toilet at a local church over the weekend.

The body of 34-year-old Mohanua Kobedi, who was last seen over a year ago, was found inside a pit toilet in Zamdela on Sunday, following an intelligence-driven operation.

Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said the investigation led the team to the arrest of the first suspect who cooperated with police and revealed the whereabouts of the missing woman’s body.

All role players were dispatched and arrangements were made to exhume the decomposed body.

Subsequently, four suspects (two women and two men) aged between 30 and 56 were arrested and charged with murder.

Brigadier said the preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was strangled at her residential place.

The body will be sent for further forensic testing to confirm that it is indeed the body of Kobedi.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate court on Wednesday, the 1st of April 2020.
