The body of a 23-year-old man from Kathu who went missing at sea with his three dogs in Bloubergstrand has been found.
Spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Craig Lambinon says Pierre Lotter and his three dachshunds went fishing on Kids Rock with his 47-year-old uncle Willem Pretorius on Tuesday.
He says they received a distress call in the evening and soon found the body of Pretorius who was declared dead on scene.
The NSRI launched an extensive air, sea and shoreline search that showed no signs of the missing dogs or Lotter.
On Sunday a body believed to be that of Lotter washed up near Melkbosstrand about 12 km away from where he had drowned.
Lambinon says that one of the missing dogs washed ashore earlier in the week while two others were recovered on Sunday.
He says the NSRI in cooperation with SAPS and the City of Cape Town are arranging a formal cremation for the animals on behalf of the family.
Although Lotter's body must still be formally identified, the family issued a statement to express their gratitude to everyone involved in the search.
