Board of inquiry wants more submissions from public on Cele misconduct

The board of inquiry into the alleged misconduct of suspended national police commissioner Bheki Cele has called for further public submissions.

Spokesperson, Bongiwe Gambu says members of the public are still encouraged to make submissions.

The board, chaired by Judge Jake Moloi, completed public hearings earlier this month.

Gambu says it is now working through "thousands of pages" of evidence, arguments and public submissions.

The board must prepare a report to President Jacob Zuma and Parliament on Cele's fitness to hold office and allegations of misconduct relating to two leases for new police headquarters in Pretoria and Durban, which the public protector declared unlawful.
