The new anti-gang unit, which launched in Cape Town last week, has arrested several suspected drug dealers in Phillippi.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut says the men aged between 23 and 35 were arrested during a raid on their house in the Oasis informal settlement.
He says they seized dagga with a street value of over a R1 million as well as heroin with a street value of about R130 000.
Traut says two unlicensed firearms, 70 rounds of ammo, six phones and R11 550 cash were also found in their possession.
He says they believe the cell phones and money were directly linked to drug trafficking.
