The Buffalo City Metro has signed cooperative agreements with the Chinese government, signifying concrete steps towards economic growth.
The Metro is hosting a two-day partnership and business conference which seeks to accelerate economic growth by building partnerships between South Africa and China and their sister cities.
Buffalo City Metro already has a twinning agreement with the City of Xinhua.
BCM Executive Mayor Princess Faku, overseen by MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism Mlungisi Mvoko, signed the first agreement, which signified government to government relations.
This paves the way for the two governments to strengthen trading cooperations and to unlock the red tape and bottlenecks, often associated with international business dealings.
The second agreements were signed between the Chinese business Council and Metros organized business structures.
It also paves way for Chinese delegation of 50 businessmen to engage with BCM businesses individually on investment opportunities in different sectors of interest.
The City is using the conference to showcase its investment attractions which are in the agricultural sector, opportunities in energy, electronics, digital technology as well as the infrastructure and logistics sector.
