Basic Education Minister promises improved school infrastructure

 Equal Education says Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has agreed to promulgate minimum norms and standards for school infrastructure.

Chairwoman Yoliswa Dwane says in an out of court settlement,Minister Motshekga agreed to promulgate regulations to create binding minimum norms and standards for school infrastructure.

She said according to the settlement the norms and standards would be published for public comment by the 15th of January and finalised by the 15th of May.

The regulations will require every school in South Africa to meet a minimum, but acceptable, level of school infrastructure which is conducive to learning and teaching
