Tiger brands Limited has confirmed that 12 employees who work in an administration office at its Durban bakery have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Albany bakery closed its doors on Wednesday.
The company has taken this decision in line with best practice protocols and in the interest of the health and safety of all its employees at the Bakery, which is its biggest priority.
The company has put in place measures to support all staff while they undergo COVID-19 testing.
Tiger Brands Spokesperson Nevashnee Naicker says last week an employee tested positive for COVID-19 and all staff who were in contact with her were also tested and isolated.
She assured the public that none of the staff who contracted the disease was working on the production line of the Bakery.
