The bail application of the Danish weapons dealer from Bloemfontein, accused of amongst others conspiracy to murder and the manufacturing and distributing
of child pornography, has been postponed. Arguments were heard in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday morning.
Peter Frederiksen will be back in court next Friday.
Frederiksen’s lawyer, Thama Lithabe, argued that a lot of black people in South Africa do not have houses, yet bail is granted is granted everyday. This was his final remark, when the court heard that Fredericksen has no address in South Africa, and poses a flight risk.
The State in turn argued that they proved beyond a reasonable doubt, that the accused would not stand trial and skip the country.
He did the same in his native Denmark after being sent to serve a six month prison term on charges related to contravening a weapons act.
The state also said there’s a public outcry and that Frederiksen's life had already been threatened by members of the public.
