A hijacking in Cape Town had a happy ending on Monday after a mother was reunited with her baby following the traumatic ordeal in the Cape Town suburb of Observatory.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, says the suspect fled with the woman's baby, who was inside her Volkswagen Polo in Bishop Street at about 10:30 a.m.
He says the immediate response by members of the Flying Squad and K9 unit resulted in the empty vehicle being found in Voortrekker Road in Maitland.
Traut says further investigation led them to a house in Dellville Square in Maitland where the baby was found unharmed.
He says a suspect has since been identified, however, a formal arrest is yet to be made.
