Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of child abandonment after a baby was found in bushes in Kwadwesi on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said that the three-day old baby girl was found by two children playing in the bushes.
"At about 16:00 two children playing in the bushes heard the cries of a baby in the bushes and found a baby who was partially covered in soil," he said.
"They alerted the police and the child was taken to Dora Nginza Hospital where he is recovering and cared for.
SAPS is making an appeal to the community of Kwadwesi to assist in the identification of the parents of the child," Beetge said.
