The mystery as to the whereabouts of drug mule, Tessa Beetge, has been revealed.
Shortly after she touched down at OR Tambo International Airport on a flight from Brazil on Thursday morning, she was whisked away by her father and a team from Special Assignment, much to the chagrin of waiting family and journalists.
Beetge, who was jailed for 12 years for smuggling more than 10 kilos of cocaine, was paroled after serving nearly six years of her jail term.
Freelance journalist, Sharon Salmon, says Tessa's aunt , Margie Olsen, who drove more than a thousand kilometres to be at the airport, was distraught at not being able to see her late sister's daughter.
She waited at the airport with flowers and was left devastated when she did not get a chance to greet Tessa.
