The Pretoria Art Museum has been closed temporarily following an armed robbery in which paintings worth about R17.5m were stolen.
A spokesperson for the City Tshwane, Pieter de Necker, says the museum will re-open next Tuesday.
He says the art museum has taken precautionary steps by removing other valuable pieces until the police have completed their investigation, while the city will also tighten security at the museum.
De Necker says 5 art works were stolen from the museum's permanent collection on Sunday by three men pretending to be art students and who asked to view specific pieces of art.
