Trade union federation Cosatu has put its planned anti-toll protest action for Monday on hold.
Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says they are meeting the leadership of the ANC on Thursday and are determined to convince the party that it will make no political sense at this stage to proceed with such an unpopular policy.
Vavi has called on members of the public to refrain from buying e-tags and make the system unworkable.
The North Gauteng High Court is hearing an application on Thursday by the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance to halt the commencement of e'tolling on Monday.
