Three suspected rhino poachers were arrested, three were killed and four managed to escape arrest, during anti-poaching operations in the Kruger National Park this week.
SA National Parks says rangers in the Phalaborwa area of the park fatally wounded one suspect, while two others got away.
Sanparks spokesperson, Reynold Thakhuli says in an operation in the Lower Sabie section of the park, three suspected poachers were wounded and arrested.
They were sent to hospital under police guard.
Thakhuli says in two separate incidents in the Pretoriuskop area, two suspected poachers were shot dead and four managed to escape.
He says hunting rifles, ammunition and poaching equipment were recovered during the operations.
A total of 164 suspected poachers had been arrested in the park since the beginning of the year.
