Another policeman was shot dead at his home in Cape Town - the third police killing in the city since Sunday.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana says the 34-year-old sergeant was shot dead on Monday night at his home in Montclaire, Mitchells Plain.
He says two men knocked on the door, and when his wife opened, the pair asked for the police officer.
Kinana says the suspects fired several shots at him and he died at the scene. It is alleged that the suspects entered the house and demanded a safe in which there was a firearm.
