Another breakthrough in Ermelo cop's execution

Detectives in Komatipoort in Mpumalanga have made yet another breakthrough in the murder investigation of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Magonseni Nkosi says a sixth suspect was arrested following a tip off.

Pretorius, the Unit Commander of the Ermelo Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, was executed in January.

Police made swift arrests less than 24 hours after the murder and five people, including a former police official, Mthobisi Nkosi,40, have been in custody since then.

The last suspect, Prince Mdluli, has been on the run since January.

Lieutenant Colonel Nkosi says Mdluli was arrested in a clothing shop in Komatipoort on Saturday.

Four of the alleged killers have abandoned their bail except Valencia Skhosana, whose bail hearing will continue next week.

On Wednesday, Mdluli will join Skhosana, Nkosi and his other co-accused, Aubrey Xaba, 35, Skhumbuzo Skhakhane, 40, and Nyiko Mujovo, 30.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane says Pretorius was driving an official vehicle when he was shot multiple times.

The suspects fled the scene in a white Sedan which was found torched in extension seven in Ermelo.
