Three people are in critical condition while many more were injured following an explosion at a factory in New Germany in Durban on Tuesday.
ER24 said when paramedics arrived on scene at around noon along with the Fire Department, there were still "large explosions going off" between the various fires and billowing smoke.
Spokesperson, Inneke van Huysteen, said three people were found to have sustained critical injuries and paramedics immediately initiated advanced life support interventions before transporting them to hospital for further medical care.
She said many others were also injured and taken to hospital.
This is the second explosion to rock Durban following Friday's explosion and fire at the Engen Refinery.
No one was injured according to the company.
