ANC president Jacob Zuma will Not visit Wonderkop near Marikana in North West as planned.
ANC provincial chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo, says the provincial executive took the decision because of the ongoing violence in that area.
He says they do not want to draw unnecessary attention.
Zuma will now speak to traditional and religious leaders as well as a group of people who were displaced in the Marikana area near Rustenburg.
On Sunday, a rally due to be addressed by Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula was cancelled in Freedom Park after violence erupted.
Stones were thrown at cars and two councillors' houses and a municipal building were set alight.
Meanwhile, a political analyst is predicting that Julius Malema's Economic Freedom Fighters will make a dent in the polls next week.
Malema has been criss-crossing the country rallying support for the party he formed soon after being expelled from the ANC.
He was recently on the campaign trail in Kwazulu Natal where political anlayst Imraan Baccus believes Malema is exploiting the frustration felt by unemployed young people who are battling to find work.
