The ANC has condemned a weekend attack in which five people were killed and 17 wounded near Sundumbili, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Provincial spokesperson Senzo Mkhize says the ANC deeply deplores this brutal and barbaric killing and appeals to the community to assist the police in tracking down the killers.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Jay Naicker, says a group of armed assailants attacked people attending a traditional function at a homestead on Saturday afternoon.
He says the motive for the shooting is not clear, and it is not linked to political violence.
