An elderly man will spend the weekend behind bars following his arrest at the Cape Town International Airport for allegedly being a drug mule.
A spokesperson for police Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi says the Hawks received information about a foreign national and possible drug mule about to leave the country.
She says the Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team based in Belville assisted the Border Police and the 70-year-old suspect was spotted.
Lt Col Vukubi says upon searching his luggage, packets of crystal meth (tik) were found in a hidden compartment.
The drugs, weighing 4.1kg have a street value of R600 000.
