Alleged drug dealers arrested for transporting dagga inside a coffin

Two alleged drug dealers who pretended to be transporting a corpse were arrested at a roadblock on the N2 near Pongola in Kwazulu Natal.

Police became suspicious when they saw an approaching vehicle switching off its lights.

The suspects, aged 32 and 34 told officers manning the roadblock that they were employed by a funeral undertaker and were in the process of transporting a corpse.

Police became suspicious and searched the vehicle where they found 30 concealed bags of dagga, weighing 80 kg, hidden inside the coffin.

The two men were arrested on the spot and will appear in the Pongola Magistrates' Court in Pongola on Tuesday.
