Gerhard Ackerman is currently on trial for 740 charges ranging from rape, child pornography, attempted murder, distribution of child porn and human trafficking of minor children for sexual exploitation.
He failed to appear in court last week stating through his legal representative that he was too ill to appear in court, however, he did not provide a medical certificate.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Phindi Mjonodwana says a warrant of arrest was issued for Ackerman who was out on strict bail conditions.
She says they immediately brought an application to have his bail revoked.
When the Investigating Officer went to Ackerman's house he had vacated the premises and sold all his movable assets.
The NPA brought an application to revoke his bail and issued a photograph of Ackerman to the media.
Vigilant members of the public spotted him in Florida, west of Johannesburg.
He is now in custody and may bring a fresh bail application.
Ackerman is alleged to have worked with his co-accused, Acting Judge Paul Kennedy, who has since committed suicide, in an alleged sex ring that lured young boys.
