A 35-year-old man appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday after police found 10 million images of child pornography in his possession.
Spokepserson for the NPA, Phindi Mjonondwane, says Darren Wilken faces multiple charges, including that he hosted and distributed child pornography worldwide for financial gain.
She says Wilken will remain in custody for now, as the state asked for another week to verify some information.
Wilken was arrested at his home last week after International authorities alerted SAPS about his alleged activities, including allegations of money laundering.
Wilken faces multiple charges, including multiple counts of possession, creation and distribution of child pornography, the Contravention of the Drug Trafficking Act, acquisition, possession/use of the proceeds of unlawful activities, possession of stolen property, and fraud.
The matter was postponed to the 28th of January for a possible bail application.
