The Freedom Front Plus has welcomed the former Premier of the Western Cape Peter Marais into the party.
Marais, who is also a former Mayor of Cape Town, was announced as the parties Premier Candidate for the province.
Party Leader Dr Pieter Groenewald says the party is committed to the protection of minority groups in South Africa.
He says their door is open to anyone who can align themselves with the party's policy, principles and values.
Marais has made himself available as candidate and was nominated as Premier candidate by the party's national and provincial structures.
Groenewald says race-based legislation, like Affirmative Action, and the discriminatory effect it has on white and coloured people in particular are a reality and, thus, it is encouraging as well as vital that there is cooperation between the different groups.
