The South African National Defence Force has been accused of a lack of discipline in its own ranks.
This, after it was revealed that from the First of April 2016 to date, 58 weapons, including assault rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition and 36 hand grenades, have been either lost or stolen from the SANDF.
The Freedom Front Plus says this information was gleaned from the answers that Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula had provided in response to questions in Parliament.
Party leader, Dr Pieter Groenewald, says the theft of and loss of weapons and ammunition at the SANDF remains worrying adding that the Defence Force cannot be a source of weapons for criminals.
He says the situation must be rectified urgently.
