4 injured in hot air balloon accident near Stellenbosch

Four people have been injured when their hot air balloon crashed after hitting power cables on Nooitgedacht wine estate outside Stellenbosch.

Netcare 911's Jeffrey Wicks says the balloon left Joostenbergvlakte and, while over the nearby wine estate, was pushed into the overhead cables by a strong wind.

He says the basket fell to the ground, injuring four of the six occupants.

Wicks says a critically injured woman was airlifted to a private hospital in Stellenbosch.

The other injured were taken to various hospitals in the area.
