Today is World Baking Day, so I thought it would be fitting to 'throwback' to a few of my Charl Cooks Recipes and also share the history behind my love for cooking. It has been nurtured or supported over time, initially by my late ouma, Louise Vorster, who made the most amazing sweet and savoury preserves, cakes, rusks, milk tart, homemade bread, boerewors, biltong and boerkos – I was an enthusiastic helper in exchange for licking out the bowl.
Fast forward just a tad later, and today I can't stop myself from making something delicious in any kitchen, be it inside the house or outside on the braai.
In support of today, I decided to share a few easy to make, hardly time consuming, recipes with you, and after scrolling through the internet in search of the best eye candy that would definitely tame the sweet tooth, I found the following recipes.
At number 1, we have the 'Super Chocolatey KitKat Meringue Roll', a soft on the eye, sweet on the palate recipe by Foodies of SA

Number 2, a athletes greatest cheat treat, 'Peanut butter-and-blueberry loaf' by Woolworths Taste Magazine
