South African wool prices softened at the final national wool sale of the season.
Cape Wools spokeswoman Ona Viljoen said their Merino indicator dropped 1.7% to close at R94.11 cents p/kg for clean wool.
This was 2.3% up on the opening sale.
Viljoen said although local prices had started declining in recent weeks, the current season was one of the best in decades for wool growers.
Viljoen said this week's sale was fairly large, with 12,424 bales on offer of which 94% was cleared.
The first sale of the new season is on the 15th of August.
