Aggregate new vehicle sales in October reflected another encouraging performance in spite of the negative impact of the recent truck drivers strike.
Industry association Naamsa says aggregate vehicle sales for October increased year on year by 10.5%.
It says total domestic sales for the ten months this year remained 10.1% ahead of the corresponding 10 months last year.
Exports sales of 24 904 vehicles had registered a decline of 859 units or 3.3%.
New passenger car sales were 10.3% better than October last year with 11.7% ahead for the 10 months ended October.
Naamsa says against the backdrop of weak momentum in the overall economy, the performance of the South African automotive sector continued to pleasantly surprise.
