The second sale of the 2012 winter mohair season produced a poor showing.
Mohair South Africa says just 69% of the large offering of more than 179,000 kg on offer was sold.
In its latest report Mohair SA said its market indicator eased on Tuesday amid uncertainty about demand from China and volumes of strong adult hair being held back.
The price of stronger young goats hair was also under pressure.
Despite this downward trend winter kids was in good demand gaining 2.5% from the previous sale.
Mohair SA says the average market indicator fell 2.3% from the previous sale to close on R88.58.
The highest price of R209/kg was paid for winter kid mohair.
