The Labour Court has ruled that the planned Banking Strike by Sasbo cannot go ahead.
Business Unity SA (BUSA) filed a court application on Monday to prevent the intended protest action on behalf of SA's commercial banks.
Threats of strike action emanate from discontent over downsizing at the country's four big banks, Nedbank, Standard Bank, FNB and ABSA.
These banks also closed some of their branches and merged others to align banking services.
Earlier, Unions said they were expecting about 50,000 people to join the strike, which could be its biggest strike since 1920.
Cosatu indicated their intention to appeal the ruling.
