The Knysna Business Connection will be showcasing the town's - One of a Kind -concept to the hospitality industry at HOSTEX Cape 2012.
Hostex is said to be Africa's biggest and best international hospitality and catering exhibition and takes place at the Cape Town Convention Centre from the 15th to 17th of May.
The Knysna Business Connection is a new business initiative, intent on finding effective ways to overcome the recessionary effects that have had the greatest impact on small and medium enterprises.
Managing director, Jo Melville explains further; "I decided the best way to do something about that was to get these small businesses to work together in groups so that they could provide a service to business as a group where as individuals the likelihood of them getting an order would be small"
Speaking to Algoa FM News on Friday Melville said she would be taking five local companies to Hostex 2012.
She says four of those include a local manufacturer of stainless steel, a ceramics company, a woodcrafting company and a tile and pottery company.
"These companies between them can refurbish an entire boutique hotel or guesthouse where as individuals they actually can't do that so they are working as a conglomerate on the exhibition as a Knysna business connection although they are 5 different companies they will act as one business" Melville said.
The fifth Knysna company to go to Hostex 2012 is local stockist, Urban Vineyard.
