South African motorists could be in for more pain if the country's tyre manufacturers have their way.
The four largest domestic producers say they have applied to the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) to impose additional duties on tyres imported from China.
The four include Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Sumitomo, and are collectively known as the SA Tyre Manufacturers Conference (SATMC).
They say if their application is successful, it will have a material impact on the price of tyres across the board.
If SATMC’s application is successful, it will have a material impact on the price of tyres across the board.
Details of the % increase for passenger, taxi, bus and truck tyre increases will be made available during the briefing on Tuesday.
