The South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has suspended two of the Air Operator Certificates for CemAir, saying the company can no longer operate as an airline or fly any of its 21 aircraft.
CAA spokesperson Simon Segwabe said the decision follows a thorough review of CemAir's Corrective Action Plan which sought to address the initial findings unveiled during the annual renewal audit, conducted during the week.
He said they found the proposed plans unsatisfactory and that it did not adequately address the findings that were initially raised by the CAA.
Segwabe said CemAir also continued operating their aircraft during the period when the Prohibition Order was still effective.
In a statement, they concluded that the certificates be suspended on Thursday with a further recommendation that these be revoked.
