Strange & Interesting events that happened this weekend around the world

Woofstock

Where: Exhibition Place, 100 Princes' Boulevard, Toronto, Ontario, Canada 92 Front St. E, Toronto, ON, Canada
Calling all pooches and their owners, Toronto's Woofstock at the Direct Energy Centre is one hell of a dog party. Watch dog fashion shows, dog-trick contests and Wooftstock's Ugliest Dog Contest. There are stalls selling canine products and on-site doggie daycare.




Ficksburg Cherry Festival

Ficksburg produces around 500 tons of cherries each year, representing about 95% of the South African harvest. The Ficksburg Cherry Festival is a celebration of the town's favourite crop, with events including tastings, pickings and family entertainment.
There are also horse shows, flower shows, a Mr Cherry Pip and a Miss Cherry Blossom competition and a fun run. The festival culminates in a carnival parade and fireworks display.

The mild summers and cold winters of this area are ideal for stone fruits generally and there are now 500 hectares of cherry tree plantations, with an average yield of ten tons per hectare!


Faneuil Hall Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Seasonal music reverberates around Faneuil Hall Marketplace as bell ringers, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and a capella choirs entertain the crowds at Boston's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Be there when the switch is flipped and over 300,000 lights brighten the square




Toy Parade

Where: Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
Join the 80,000+ plus visitors eagerly spotting the characters during the annual Toy Parade through Quebec Old Town. As well as Santa, there are many different scenes, the little reindeer Geoffroy, the event's mascot as well as presents for the children.
