Strange events taking place this weekend around the world

I love this feature, as I find it hilarious some of the interesting events that take place around the world. This is what is taking place this weekend:

Egremont Crab Fair (England)
Since medieval times, Egremont has celebrated crab apple time with unique events. The Crab Fair features unlikely sports such as climbing up a greasy pole to try and get a leg of lamb, and the World Gurning Championships.
The gurning competitors have to try and pull the ugliest face with their heads stuck through a horse's collar - there are female, male and junior competitions. The winner is the one with the loudest applause.

If you don't want your contorted face to be caught on camera, then it's best not to participate, as the event attracts its fair share of TV crews.

Returning of the Cattle - Austria
Anyone in the beautiful Alpine village of St Anton am Arlberg this September is in for a strange sight. Livestock, returning from summer pastures, flock through the town in the traditional Returning of the Cattle festival, complete with marching brass bands.

Gold Stilt Contest (southern Belgium)
Long-legged locals wow crowds with their superior agility at Namur's annual Gold Stilt Contest. No mercy is shown in this battle, where the aim of the game is to knock opponents down using elbows, shoulders or stilts - ouch!
During the Middle Ages, locals of Namur adopted the habit of walking on stilts whenever the banks of the River Meuse flooded. Before long they were nimble-footed enough to demonstrate their strength, skill and dexterity in stilt battles, and this bizarre sport was born.

According to the old tradition, two teams of around 25 walkers on different coloured stilts (red-and-white v yellow-and-black) compete against each other in front of enthusiastic crowds on the place St Aubain.
